Client agreement.

Reiki is a Japanese practice in which I rest my hands lightly on or just above your body. It is complementary, which means it sits alongside medical care rather than in place of it.

I am not a doctor and I do not diagnose. I will not tell you what is wrong with you, and I will never suggest you delay, stop or change any treatment you are receiving. If something you tell me suggests you should see your GP, I will say so.

No outcome can be guaranteed, and I make no claims about what Reiki will do for you.

A session lasts 60 or 90 minutes, including a conversation at the start of around ten minutes and a few minutes at the end to settle.

You lie on a treatment couch. There is no massage, no oils, and nothing applied to your skin. You will not be asked to remove any clothing beyond your coat and shoes.

Most people come for one session at a time. There is no course to commit to and I will not recommend a number of sessions.

Reiki can be given with hands resting lightly on the body, or with hands held just above it without contact. Both work, and neither is better than the other.

We will decide together at the start of your session, and you can change your mind at any point during it. You do not need to give a reason. Just say.

What we agreed, and anything you asked for during the session, is noted in your record afterwards.

I will ask about your general health and about anything you are being treated for. You do not have to tell me anything you would rather not, and I will not press you.

I ask because it helps me offer the session sensibly, and occasionally because something needs a conversation before we begin.

Payment is due at the session.

If you need to cancel or move a session, please give me 24 hours notice where you can. Life happens and I would always rather you told me.

If you are unwell, please do not feel you have to come. Tell me and we will move the session with nothing lost. If I am unwell I will not treat, and I will let you know as early as I can and rebook you at no cost.

Training deposits reserve your place and the balance is due before the course. If you cannot make the date, tell me and I will move you to the next one. Deposits are transferable once, and non-refundable after that.

I keep a brief record of each session: the date, what you told me, and anything relevant that came up. These are factual notes, not opinions about you.

Records are held securely and kept for eight years from your last session, in line with the UK Reiki Federation Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. Where the client is a child, records are kept until their 25th birthday, or 26th if they were 17 when treatment ended.

Nothing you tell me is shared with anyone without your consent, unless I am required to disclose it by law. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

I am a member of the UK Reiki Federation and work to its Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. A copy is available on request.

I am fully insured. My certificate is available to see on request.

I may decline or postpone a session where I believe it would not be appropriate, and I will tell you why.

A parent or guardian must be present throughout the session and will be asked to sign a separate consent form beforehand.
